SECTOR I

Gloma river (bank fishing)

Glomma is Norway’s longest river and is partly regulated through hydropower. In Stor-Elvdal it has long free-flowing stretches. Water depth varies greatly; calm sections can be 5–15 meters, while rapids and shallow areas dominate elsewhere. Main fish species are trout, grayling, pike, whitefish, and perch. Distribution: grayling (40–50%), trout (30–35%), pike and perch (15–20%), whitefish (5–10%). The river is renowned as one of Norway’s best fly-fishing rivers, with catch limits to preserve large fish. Anglers from across Europe visit Glomma annually for its rich fishing opportunities.

SECTOR II

Solensjoen lake (boat fishing)

Sølensjøen is a natural lake without regulation, part of the Trysil watercourse. Located at 688 m a.s.l., it covers 22.5 km² and reaches a maximum depth of 58 meters. Avarage depth 15m. Key fish species are char, whitefish, trout, grayling, pike, burbot, and perch. Distribution: whitefish (40–50%), char (20–30%), trout and grayling (15–20%), others minor. Annual whitefish catch is significant, around 18–20 tons, much used for fermented fish (rakfisk). Fiskevollen at the northwest end is Norway’s largest inland fishing village, with long traditions.

SECTOR III

Nordre Rena / Unsetaa river (bank fishing)

The river is not regulated; it flows naturally from Lake Finnstadsjøen and forms Nordre Rena together with Tysla. Flow varies seasonally, with depths usually 1–4 meters, deeper in pools. Key fish species are trout, grayling, and whitefish, with some perch and occasional pike. Distribution: grayling (40–50%), trout (30–35%), whitefish (10–15%), others minor. The river is famous for fly fishing, with a designated fly-only zone of about 12 km.

SECTOR IV

Isteren lake (boat fishing)

Isteren is a natural lake without regulation, situated between Lake Femunden and the Sølen massif. The lake covers about 30 km², relatively shallow, with maximum depth around 20–25 meters. Key fish species are trout, pike, whitefish, grayling, perch, and burbot. Distribution: whitefish (40–45%), trout (25–30%), pike (10–15%), grayling and perch (10–15%), others minor. Large fish are common: trout up to 3–4 kg and pike up to 4–5 kg are regularly caught. Popular for trolling, ice fishing, and canoeing, with strict fishing rules (e.g., max two trout per day over 40 cm).

SECTOR V

Femundselva river (bank fishing)

The river is unregulated, flowing naturally from Lake Galtsjøen southward toward Trysil. Water levels vary with snowmelt; depths are usually 1–5 meters, with deeper pools. Key fish species are trout, grayling, and whitefish, with some char and perch. Distribution: grayling (40–50%), trout (30–35%), whitefish (10–15%), others minor. The Femundselva are well-known fly-fishing areas and is referred to as a classic fly-fishing river, known for large grayling and trout over 1–2 kg.

ACCOMMODATION

STOR-ELVDAL HOTEL

The hotel capacity at Stor-Elvdal Hotel is not large. And room allocation will be prioritized in triple and double rooms for the athletes. The athletes will have 1st priority on the hotel rooms. We will also host teams Norstu Gård, Koppang, https://www.nordstu.no , 5 min walk from the hotel.
