ORGANIZER

TAFI

The International Sport Fly Fishing Federation FIPS Mouche has chosen IRELAND throughout TAFI to host the 23rd FIPS Mouche YOUTH World Fly Fishing Championship 2026 in Ballybofey in Ireland.
It is with a Céad Míle Fáilte (One Hundred Thousand Welcomes) that the Trout Angler Federation of Ireland welcome’s you back to Ireland for the 2026 Courtland World Youth Fly Fishing Championships. This competition was last held in Ireland in 2013, again as a cross-border competition and we welcomed nine teams from all over the world. Here you will find the Emerald Isle with all its natural beauty and the charm of the people who are always willing to have a chat and to regal you with stories about the ‘little people’ and ‘leprechauns’. This years Competition is set in the wild beauty of County Donegal and County Tyrone. Donegal has its wildness and beauty all of its own where the fishing for wild brown trout will challenge your skill to the full. Tyrone equally has some of the best wild brown trout rivers to be found anywhere in Ireland. You may even be lucky to catch a salmon or two. We are sure you will enjoy the fishing and we wish you “tight lines.”
Alan Mc DADE
INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZER

As the International Organiser of the XXIII Cortland World Youth Fly Fishing Championship 2026, I am delighted to welcome all the competitors to this beautiful part of Ireland.
We promise to make your visit enjoyable and I have every confidence that you will enjoy some of the finest fly fishing this part of Ireland has to offer.
You will need to vary your skills and techniques to suit our conditions here in Ireland, where you can encounter all four seasons in one day!
In addition, you will have a wonderful opportunity to fish twice on a drifting boat session on Lough Anure and Lough Craigie, two river fishing sessions on the Dennett and Quiggery rivers and one bank fishing session on Lough Deele. All of which will require different techniques in order to catch our sometimes-elusive wild brown trout and in some cases the occasional sea trout.
The championship hotel will be based in Jackson’s Hotel in Ballybofey which offers you a luxurious place stay in this typical Irish country town, where the local people are looking forward to sharing their renowned hospitality with you.
You can be assured of a great Irish fly-fishing adventure and a fantastic welcome from us here in Ireland.

Harvey HUTCHINSON
Chairman of Organizing Committee

I am delighted to welcome all the competitors and their mentors and supporters to this part of Ireland for the XXIII Cortland World Youth Fly Fishing Championships. We hope that you all enjoy yourselves and take away happy memories. Hosting this prestigious event is the result of many years dedicated voluntary work by T.A.F.I. members promoting both youth and senior angling in Ireland. It has been supported by various government agency’s and angling bodies who we thank for their support. The venues chosen are varied, two lakes from boats, two rivers and one lake from the bank but all are full of wonderful wild brown trout, the occasional sea trout and even salmon. I have personally fished all these venues for many years and have never failed to enjoy the day.

The Championship hotel, Jackson’s in Ballybofey is central to all the venues and offers luxury with the addition of the legendary “Ulster Fry” which will set anybody up for a good days fishing. As Alan the IO said, you can be assured of a great Irish fly-fishing adventure and a warm welcome.

Céad Mile Fáilte (a hundred thousand welcomes)
